The Water Advocates encourages NM Senate action on three significant funding requests for the 2025 New Mexico legislature: Water Data Act Compliance, Water Security Planning Act Implementation, and Active Water Resource Management (AWRM). UPDATED 3/5/25
Please take IMMEDIATE ACTION to voice your support to the Senate Finance Committee.
1) CALL or EMAIL the chair, vice chair, and members of the Senate Finance Committee – We want to ensure that these special appropriations are included in the final budget.
Please refer to this document for talking points or to copy into an email. Given the immediacy of the request, we do not recommend writing a letter to legislators at this time. A call or email will be best. Please be sure to add your perspective to emphasize how much resources are needed for a resilient water future in New Mexico. Call their office and leave a message or talk to the office assistant (preferred) and/or send via email. See the above link for contact information for HAAWC members.
2) WRITE OR CALL YOUR LEGISLATORS – Your Senate legislator needs to know how important these funding requests are. Please follow the instructions below to contact your legislator now.
What do do: Please find your legislators HERE. Download refer to this Google doc (make a copy). Customize with your address, email, legislator name, and any personal comments (expressing your opinion is very helpful!) at the end of the letter. With legislators inundated with email, it is best to 1) PRINT and MAIL your letter, 2) call their office and leave a message or talk to the office assistant, or 3) send via email.
BE SURE TO WRITE A LETTER TO BOTH YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATOR.
Thank you for doing YOUR part. Let’s ensure the NM Legislature does theirs! ¡Agua es Vida!
(Please check back often and look for additional updates and calls to action to this 2025 Legislative toolkit.)

It would be so much more helpful if you listed name, email and phone number versus sending us down a bunch of links to other sites then more links to get their email and phone numbers.
